SOCIAL MOVEMENTS IN INDIA

INTRODUCTION A social movement is a mass movement and a collective attempt of people to bring about a change or to resist any change. The concept central to any social movement is that people intervene in the process of social change, rather than remaining mere spectators or passive participants in the ebb and flow of life. People seek to become proactive actors in altering the course of history. In order to achieve their aim of making a difference to the world they live in, they either initiate or become a part of collective action. Individuals consciously act together with a sense of engagement in a common enterprise. Herbert Blumer said that Social movements can be viewed as collective enterprises to establish a new order of life. They have their inception in the condition of unrest, and derive their motive power on one hand from dissatisfaction with the current form of life, and on the other hand, from wishes and hopes for a new scheme or system of living. Local land the blessing of North East

Image
(Musing on Samir Bordoloi’s vision of Ecological Farming in North East) Northeast India being richly blessed with natural land resources, the Government of India is promoting the whole region to grow organic food for the people of India. The youths could launch out as Agripreneurs to produce good food and sustain their livelihood through ecological farming practices. There is a greater need to give value to our land and grow healthy food. Sustainable mode of production: The harmful effects of the accelerated mode of production could be seen in terms of health problems among the consumers and degradation of the quality of soil which even has cost the lives of many farmers in many parts of the country. This same mistake should not be allowed to repeat in the name of Organic Food Production in the region. Therefore, in a very careful way, the farmers of the region have to play a crucial role in meeting the demands of the country while preventing the over-exploitation of natura...

My impression on Exam Warriors by Narendra Modi

Image
It's a very reader-friendly book meant for the students. The book has some 100 and few more pages and so one can cover up in one go. Towards the end, the author has added some ways of practicing Yoga. A lot of practical tips and encouragement are given to students and few words for the parents and teachers as well. It is worth pointing out that the activity list after every chapter is commendable, thus the reader can take part and also make this book something personal note. image: https://www.google.co.in/search?q=exam+warriors&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi38qH5iKjaAhXMLI8KHdIKBW8Q_AUIDCgD&biw=1366&bih=637#imgrc=pgjVu8KFm_YrwM:
