My impression on Steve Jobs: The Man Who Thought Different

Some of the things I have heard about Steve Jobs are: He was a college drop-out, he was thrown out of the Apple Company he co-founded, and he later entered the Apple Company and ultimately became the CEO.

After having read his biography by Karen Blumenthal, I realized that the Real Apple is Steve Jobs. He was born out of wedlock of college students. The boy was of a Syrian origin, thus the parents of the girl, Joanne Schieble, did not accept the child. The young boy was adopted by a couple, Clara and Paul Jobs, on condition that they would give him college studies.

Jobs grew up as an inquisitive and restless kid. He did not like any structured way of life. Therefore school did not provide him a suitable environment to grow and learn. As a young teenager, he had lots of adventures and he was a person who was always in search of something where he could give his heart and soul.

From his father, he learned how to repair vehicles and imbibe the quality of getting things done neatly. Through his friends he learned how to create programs for the computer. Before his college, he and his friends made blue box, a gadget that can make phone call by intercepting the phone signal, without any balance. They even sold and made good profit out of it.

He joined the College and left it after the First Semester. He began to work in some small companies and later developed his own, together with his friend. Together, they invented personal computer. With success coming on their way, they began to expand and involve many in their company. It is interesting to note how apple became the logo. Firstly, he was a vegetarian and loves apple. When he worked in the apple farm, he would relish them. So he took apple for his logo.

When the company was at its height, he called in Sculley, who worked for the Pepsi Company, in the team. It was he, through whose instrumentality, Steve Jobs was fired from his position. Leaving the Apple Company, he started NeXT software with some of his friends. During these time he could fair but not so much as when he was with the Apple. Trying moments passed, and he stood firm on his ground.

The trouble times of Apple Company presented Jobs with an opportunity to enter once again. He worked together with the Apple Company with his NeXT. Earlier, Bill Gates and he were not in good terms, but now they begin to help each other. Microsoft extended help in creating software for the Apple.

He was diagnosed with a cancer of the pancreas, which ultimately took his life at the age of 56. Till his last breath, he gave to Apple. He is a person who has learned that ‘the process is the reward,’ as the famous saying goes, ‘virtue is its own reward.’ Though he was a reserved person, he has learned to open up himself and focus delivering the best.

At first he saw a large desktop calculator in 1968 that inspired him to work and bring about personal computer. Today we see, desktop, MacBook, Ipod, and Iphone and Ipad.

Some of his immortal words: Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish. This could mean, never settle till you discover your passion, and when you find, stay occupied and be innovative. Tim Cook, Apple’s new CEO, shared what he learned from Jobs: ‘Simple can be harder than complex. You have to work hard to get your thinking clear enough to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end, because once you get there, you can move mountains.’

He moved out of the college, not that he was a college drop-out. He was a genius, who could already earn even before entering into college. Even before twenty, he had already experimented a lot about life which only few could have done. Thus once he found his heart, he gave everything into it: APPLE.
